Guitars and Basses For Sale. . . .

Back in the day, that is what you searched for in the press and musical press.
Now, it's on google and the choice is mind boggling.
Only today, I spotted a Kawai Alembic "tribute". . . the one that got away!
Anyway, I have promised to let some go to new homes, so the two images below show a couple that have broken free already .

The Twin Neck Jaydee went home some years ago, to the original owner and to follow that theme, the Peter Cook Axis Guitar also went back to the original owner and originator, Peter, himself.

The Jaydee, being Rocked, as it should be!

Looks great on Fez, being over six foot. . . I am a little shorter!!

The first two shots are by Lars Mullen, as are the ones below.

So, you see, it can be done!
Both found new homes.

I am still going through the big sort out and will come back to you soon.

Cheers. :)

Basses Galore. . . .

Following on from my post of August 31st, more gorgeous basses, photographed by Lars Mullen.
As I said in that post, it's time for someone else to enjoy some of these - not sure which ones yet, it will take me a while to sort that out.

 Nice!! :)

Flat Eric's Collection - End of the Road?

Hi to all out there. :)

It is not as daunting as it might sound, as just over three years ago, Lars Mullen and myself got together to photograph some of the collection, as I was thinking of letting some of them go and making more time for the ones I kept.
It was a great way of making a record of them, with some pro shots and I have to say, Lars worked flat out all day, aside from a quick sandwich and a drink, it was full on from the word go!

Well, I changed my mind and thought that I would do it the following year - 2015 but that didn't happen either.
So, I have been going through them all and decided that this year, it's time to let go and give someone else the pleasure of some of the Great/Rare/Unique instruments I have collected over the years.

I have no idea which one is to go first but I will be certainly having one last rehearsal with each one.

Listed below are some of the images Lars took and I labelled up, so he could identify them - some this time and some next post.

Some of these may find new homes, some may not but I feel now is the time to make a start.

Posts have been a little slow but I promise to be back with more, very soon!!

Cheers. :)

Back in circulation. . . .

Dear readers and followers. :)

If you drop in here on a fairly regular basis, you will have noticed that the content has been a little sparse, over the last few months.

The truth is, I have suffered some ill health during this year and my mind has been on other things, as I'm sure you can understand.

Now things are getting back to normal, I am going to kick start the blog again and carry on listing the rest of the collection.

So, sit tight and over the next couple of weeks, I'll get the ball rolling again.

Cheers. :)

Firebird Twin Neck, from years ago. . . .

This it it!!

This was taken by the owner, at the time it was in his possession.

He was based and still is, in Nottinghamshire - I acquired it from North Yorkshire, so at some point it "headed north"

I haven't managed to speak to him yet but will give him a call in the next few days, to get the full story.

Back soon.

Cheers. :)

Firebird Twin Neck....

Hi to all!
I really am trying to add more content - so many more instruments to go, just seem to run out of time!!

Anyway. . . . one of the original owners of this little beauty has contacted me - he had it around 35 years ago!!

See more of my images here:
Peter Cook Guitars

He has a 35mm shot of it, from back then, which I am hoping to see real soon.

Will come back as soon as I see it.

Cheers. : )

A visit to Peter Cook, the guitar maker. . . . . .

For some time, Peter Cook and I have been meaning to have another get together and go through the "stuff from the attic"!.
Well, late last year it happened and this is the post that I did about the visit, Peter, the Axis Guitar and me!
Peter, Axis and Eric.

Well, what a brilliant day I had with Peter - the promised "sort through" of all the stuff that was in the attic/loft, was more interesting that I could have imagined.
After a cup of tea (how English) and a bit of a natter, we started on a smaller box with diaries, note books, delivery notes etc.
Lots of entries for John (The Ox) and Pete, plus Clapton, Neil Murray, Lemmie/Fast Eddie and a whole host of others.

The second box, marked up as Ned C, was full of Ned Callan bits, as you would expect, as well as more copy delivery notes,
which on reading, quite shocked me at the quantities!

I never thought there were that many in circulation - and included were the serial numbers of a lot of them, along with the dates.
There were many more interesting items, which we had a sort through - with another tea, including some Polaroid shots
of a very young Peter Cook, playing a Firebird copy, prepared for CSL!

Then the third box!
So many interesting bits and pieces to sort through and then. . . . .

What do you think this is?
Got it yet? Fans of John, I'm sure would spot this instantly - it had the whiff of "Garden Shed"
I was truly "Gobsmacked"!!!!! Yes, it's the real thing, trust me!!

Also found a few layers down, was this! The bottom part caught my eye, because he made two Firebird Twin Necks - mine and the one Del Bromham had. . . . was this entry relating to mine?
The parts at the top, obviously relate to the items shown above, if you hadn't already guessed!!!

This is just a fraction of it, in terms of details, notes, etc. - so we are going to have another go at it and try and bottom it, at some time!!

As I said at the top, a brilliant day!

As always, my request goes out to anyone who has/had a Peter Cook or Ned Callan, seen one/played one - would love to hear from you.

Cheers.

The Black Bomber Jacket, is one of those typical tour jackets of the 70's and 80's, which Peter used to take to shows and apparently,
sold like hot cakes.

Anyone got one?

Anyone got a Peter Cook or an old Ned, drop me a line contactflateric@gmail.com
